Eminem has quite a few career milestones on his resume. He’s a rapper, songwriter, producer, and actor, and we know we already said rapper but it’s worth noting that many believe he’s the greatest of all time. Now, it seems that Slim Shady is interested in diving into another aspect of the entertainment industry – documentaries. Eminem has a documentary in the works and it could be released within the year!

Stans

Eminem fans are familiar with the song “Stan”, which has now become a slang term for a fan. “Stan” tells the story of a fan who becomes obsessed with Eminem to a point that’s dangerous. That same concept will be the subject of the rapper’s documentary, titled Stans. Eminem will co-produce the film about super fandom culture through Shady Films in association with DIGA Studios and Hill District Media. The documentary will be directed by Steven Leckart, who’s famous for his work on What’s My Name: Muhammad Ali and Legacy: True Story of the L.A. Lakers. The film will be financed by Eminem himself, along with his manager Paul Rosenberg, and Stuart Parr, who produced the movie 8 Mile, which the rapper starred in.

Eminem’s Documentary

Stans promises to be “revealing, edgy, and a disarmingly personal journey” and will be told “through the lens” of both Eminem himself and his fans “that worship him.” According to Rosenberg and Parr, “Stans will be the opportunity for us to turn the camera around and ask the audience about being fans — and in some cases, fanatics. This is a study of the relationship between fanbase and artist through the lens of one of Eminem’s most fascinating songs and one of the world’s most important entertainers.” Former MTV executive and producer Tony DiSanto chimed in, “Paul Rosenberg and I have known each other since my days on MTV’s TRL, a show that was driven by the power of fandom, bringing artists and their fans together. So when he told me about the idea for this film, it felt like we had come full circle. Stans will explore the complex relationship between fame and super fandom, told through the lens of one of the world’s most iconic artists, Eminem, his music, and, especially, his most extreme fans.”
