HBO Has Revealed More Photos from the Upcoming ‘House of the Dragon’

Fans of HBO’s Game of Thrones can now look at some of the Targaryens who ruled before Daenerys, as well as their friends and enemies. This is so because HBO has released new photos from the upcoming prequel to the beloved series. It is called House of the Dragon and is based on George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood. The book describes the fascinating and violent history of the Targaryen family, hundreds of years before the events in Game of Thrones.

HBO has said in a statement that the production of the House of the Dragon show has already started, and it will be ready to stream next year on HBO Max. Up until now, they have shown some photos that show various members of the production team seated behind their computers. But this time, the images are much better, showing the actors in full makeup and costume.

Emma D’Arcy Will Play Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen – Firstborn of the King and a Fierce Dragon Rider

While Emma D’Arcy’s character should be the heir to the throne by her right of birth, the fact that she wasn’t born male becomes a problem in the story. Meanwhile, Matt Smith will play the younger brother to King Viserys, who is also a warrior, a dragon rider, and the actual heir to the throne.
Steve Toussaint plays the nautical adventurer Lord Velaryon, known also as The Sea Snake and the lord of House Velaryon. This house apparently claims the largest navy in the world and is at the time richer than the Lannisters.

Olivia Cooke will play the daughter of Otto Hightower – Alicent Hightower, while Welsh actor Rhys Ifans plays Otto Hightower himself. He is a faithful and loyal servant to his king and realm but believes the real threat to the realm is Daemon – the king’s brother. Fans expect that with the House of the Dragon’s focus on dragon riders, there will be plenty of dragons on screen. So far, HBO has released the concept art of the dragons and revealed that the fantastical creatures are partially based on real animals and their movement.
